Did you know that Jefferson Valley Mall hosts a weekly after school science program?
"Science At The Mall, From The Land To The Sea" is a 11 week series program that inspires children about the wonders of our planet. Through hands on activities and real artifacts, children (grades K - 5.) learn about the wonders of the earth. Sessions take place on Mondays from 4:30 pm- 5:30 pm at the mall's Center Court. What else is amazing about this program? it is FREE for all and registration is not required.
The following features the upcoming weeks and its themes:
Week 7 - 1/14/19 - Coral reefs: Stations will be set up, different artifacts from the coral reefs, will be set up on tables for students to explore and make scientific observations.
Week 8 - 1/28/19 - Archaeology Adventure: In this program, kids will have a fun hands-on experience of being young archaeologist. They will participate in a simulated dig site discover and learn the rich culture of early Native Americans.
Week 9 - 2/4/19 - Magnificent Mollusks!: In this program kids will learn about different Mollusks and get to look at the outside and insides of a squid.
Week 10 - 2/11/19 - Bones in a box: In this program, kids become young paleontologists! Each kid will put part of a dinosaur skeleton together, and take it home to extend learning. They will also be able to touch real fossils and dinosaur bone replicas.
Week 11 - 2/25/19 - Fossil Hunting: In this program, kids will have fun and learn digging dirt like a real paleonthologist. They will also be able to touch, observe, weigh, measure and learn to identify fossils.
